In a strategic move, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the main Russian bank, Sberbank, to cooperate with China in the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI). This alliance aims to strengthen Russia's position in the global technological race and challenge the dominance of the United States in this field.
Putin's decision was published on the Kremlin's website and focuses on ensuring greater coordination in research and technological development in the field of AI. The CEO of Sberbank, German Gref, acknowledged that graphics processing units (GPUs) are the hardest hardware to replace for Russia, making this alliance even more important.
Russia currently ranks 31st out of 83 countries in terms of implementation, innovation, and investment in AI, according to the Tortoise Media Global AI Index. However, with this alliance, Russia seeks to close the gap with the world's leading AI powers, such as the United States and China.
The alliance also includes the creation of a new AI alliance network that will bring together specialists from BRICS countries and other interested states. Putin stated that "Russia must participate on equal terms in the global race to create strong artificial intelligence" and that "we invite scientists from around the world to join the collaboration."
Although this alliance does not have a direct relationship with cryptocurrencies, it is important to highlight that the elected U.S. president, Donald Trump, has appointed a "Czar of AI and cryptocurrencies at the White House" to help ensure that the United States remains the richest and most technologically advanced power in the world.
