On January 2, news broke that the cryptocurrency lending platform Celsius has appealed the rejection of its revised claim of $444 million against FTX. Celsius stated that defamatory remarks made by FTX executives, employees, and affiliated companies had a negative impact on the company's reputation and financial health, accelerating the company's bankruptcy in July 2022. Court documents show that Celsius initially filed a $2 billion claim based on 'unverified defamatory statements' spread by FTX insiders. In December last year, Celsius revised its application, reducing the claim amount to $444 million. The revised claim shifted its focus to priority transfer, but the judge rejected both its original claim and the revised claim on procedural grounds.
