Access control vulnerabilities cause significant damage in 2024

- A report from Hacken shows that access control vulnerabilities are the main cause of damage in the cryptocurrency sector in 2024, accounting for 75% of total damage. The CeFi, DeFi, and gaming/metaverse sectors have all been heavily impacted, with total damages reaching up to 1.7 billion USD. 🔐

- Meanwhile, attacks on smart contracts only account for 14% of total damage. DeFi has mitigated losses thanks to security improvements, especially in cross-chain bridges. However, gaming and the metaverse are still struggling with damages of 389 million USD.
