Bitcoin ATMs are booming in Australia, with the country adding machines consistently for over two years. Now, Australia boasts 1,359 Bitcoin ATMs, making up 3.5% of the global total and ranking third worldwide. This puts Australia close to Europe's 1,660 ATMs, potentially making it the third-largest network after the US and Canada.
The US leads with 31,516 ATMs, dominating 81.3% of the market, while Canada holds 7.8%. Despite this growth, scams are on the rise. The FTC reported over $110 million lost to Bitcoin ATM scams in 2023, prompting US lawmakers to urge operators to combat fraud, especially targeting the elderly.
