ChainCatcher news, according to Jin Shi reports, 'father of artificial intelligence' Geoffrey Hinton believes that there is a 10% to 20% possibility of artificial intelligence leading to human extinction in the next 30 years. He warns that the pace of technological change is much faster than expected.

Hinton was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics this year for his contributions to AI, and he previously stated that AI technology has a 10% chance of causing catastrophic consequences for humanity.

When asked by BBC Radio 4's 'Today' program whether his analysis of the potential AI apocalypse and the 10% probability had changed, he said: 'Nothing has changed, 10% to 20%.'
