The last week before the New Year was special for the Ukrainian Web3 community. Ethereum Ukraine decided to summarize and finish 2024 with a powerful chord — the mini-hackathon ETHKyiv Impulse: Based Edition, which this time combined the Christmas atmosphere with the celebration of the community's three-year anniversary.
On December 21, 50 builders gathered for the already third mini-hackathon organized by the Ethereum Ukraine Community. Behind the festive atmosphere — limited edition hoodies, gifts, and a cake in the style of Ethereum — serious technical work was hidden: participants experimented with AI agents based on the L2 Base network.
"Who could have imagined that in 2024 Vitalik Buterin would come to us? That we would be supported by global industry leaders — from ether.fi, Uniswap, Ethereum Foundation to Base, Zero1 Labs, and many others?" — began his welcoming speech Rostislav Bortman, the founder of the Ethereum Ukraine Community.
According to him, 2025 promises to be even more powerful — plans include more hackathons, quality partnerships, and innovative projects.
"All of this is for our community, for those who are creating the future of Web3 in Ukraine" — he emphasized.
A special surprise was a video greeting from Jesse Pollak, the lead developer of Base. He noted the growing influence of the Ukrainian community on the global Web3 industry and wished the participants success in the competition.
The program started with a workshop from partners: Morpheus and Hacken, who formed a prize fund for the event of $6000. A separate item was a case study from beliefs.social, and as soon as the theory was over, builders began working on their own projects, experimenting with technologies at the intersection of blockchain and artificial intelligence. Over 12 intensive hours, 50 participants presented 10 projects, three of which advanced to the finals.
An important component of the event was the support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine — the organizers held a fundraiser for the engineering needs of the 12th Special Purpose Brigade 'Azov'. For a donation of 500 hryvnias, participants had the chance to win a flag signed by Vitalik Buterin, which helped raise 22,000 hryvnias.
In addition to the prize fund, developers received special gifts — from the book 'Possible Futures of Ethereum Protocol' from Devcon 7 to activation codes for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.
ETHKyiv Impulse: Based Edition became a vivid confirmation of the maturity of the Ukrainian Web3 community. Over three years, Ethereum Ukraine has transformed from a local initiative into a powerful movement attracting the attention of global industry leaders, while regular mini-hackathons are shaping a new generation of Ukrainian innovators in the blockchain field.
The number of talented specialists and projects emerging at such events is becoming an increasingly significant part of the global Web3 ecosystem, and the December mini-hackathon is no exception.
