🇷🇺 Siluanov answered the question about cryptocurrency reserves

Cryptocurrency is too volatile a tool to consider it as a reserve asset in the National Wealth Fund (NWF), said Finance Minister Anton Siluanov while giving a lecture to students at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation:

Well, you know, maybe someday, of course, we will get to that. Americans are talking about it now, that reserves need to be held in crypto. But since crypto is a very volatile instrument, investing state money into something uncertain about what will happen to it tomorrow is probably dangerous. And we simply won’t be understood here.

Noting the growth of Bitcoin in 2024, he emphasized that there is also a "reverse risk". In this case, it is better for the state to "earn a little less but keep the powder dry".

"Therefore, today such investments in crypto, I believe, are unjustified. What will happen in 5-10 years - we will see. But cryptocurrencies today, I repeat, are less predictable than other commonly accepted assets," concluded the minister.$BTC
