## 0x00 Brief Introduction to Desci
When I first encountered the term Desci, I didn't understand what it was; how could science be decentralized? Could science become an ERC20 token placed in a pool? Later, while reviewing materials, I found that discussions and references to decentralized science had been occurring as early as 2021 or even earlier, and there were articles introducing Desci decentralized science on Binance Square earlier this year.
Traditionally, it is well known that scientific research requires a large amount of funding. Many valuable research projects struggle to start or continue due to insufficient funds, and significant investments in energy, finances, and resources do not necessarily yield good results; in terms of intellectual property, the process of converting research results into patents is complex and time-consuming, and the management process is cumbersome. Moreover, communication and collaboration among scientists are often hindered by geographical distances or institutional limitations, preventing effective exchange and the collision of innovative ideas. These issues collectively form the bottleneck of traditional scientific research, hindering the speed and efficiency of scientific progress. However, the advantages of blockchain, such as immutability, transparency, decentralization, and community governance (DAO), can create a new paradigm of scientific research that is more open, transparent, collaborative, and efficient.
## 0x01 BIO Protocol
In November, Binance Labs announced an investment in the DeSci project BIO Protocol, marking Binance Labs' first foray into the decentralized science (DeSci) field. Subsequently, during the DeSci Day event held in Bangkok, CZ and Vitalik Buterin appeared together to discuss DeSci and showcased related DeSci projects such as VitaDAO's longevity products (VitaDAO is the predecessor of BIO and has received investments from Pfizer and other venture capital).
BIO Protocol is a governance and liquidity protocol in the decentralized science (DeSci) field, aiming to promote the co-funding, establishment, and ownership of tokenized biotechnology projects and intellectual property (IP) by the global community of patients, scientists, and biotechnology professionals through blockchain technology, thereby accelerating the development of biotechnology. Here are some core features and functions of the BIO Protocol:
BioDAO: BIO Protocol includes several sub-DAOs (decentralized autonomous organizations) focused on different specific scientific or medical research areas. These BioDAOs pool resources (data, capital, labor) together, leveraging the collective power of globally distributed stakeholders to accelerate research and development processes and develop new intellectual property.
Incubation function: BIO Protocol provides incubation functions similar to Y Combinator, supporting and resourcing scientific research projects.

Roadmap: The development roadmap of the BIO project provides a clear path for its long-term growth, including launching on the Ethereum mainnet and achieving multi-chain support, adding at least 10 BioDAOs covering a wider range of research fields, and optimizing the token economic model to enhance user participation and stabilize token value.
BIO Protocol catalyzes the on-chain scientific economy through decentralized funding, incentives, and liquidity, drawing design inspiration from the team's previous successful experiences with Molecule (an early tokenization platform for biomedical projects) and VitaDAO (the largest decentralized community for longevity science). The goal of BIO Protocol is to build a decentralized and self-organizing scientific world, a self-sovereign scientific system driven by open data and liquidity markets, with the core objective of curing diseases.
