Phala is moving to Ethereum
In December 2024, Phala Network proposed to end the Khala chain and migrate Phala Network to Ethereum, indicating a strategic move to align with cutting-edge technologies and optimize operations, marking a significant milestone in 2024 for Phala. Since Intel's planned discontinuation of SGX-IAS support in 2025 will render Khala workers obsolete, migrating to Ethereum ensures that Phala can leverage advanced platforms such as Intel TDX and Nvidia GPUs for secure and high-performance computations. This transition consolidates the Phala ecosystem into a unified infrastructure, eliminating redundancy and improving scalability.
By implementing a Layer 2 (L2) network and a TEE marketplace on Ethereum, Phala strengthens its interoperability and deepens collaboration with the Ethereum ecosystem, while the introduction of an Ethereum Vault contract modernizes staking and asset management. The migration also includes a seamless process for transferring assets, ensuring that users can easily reclaim their tokens and accrued rewards.
