Denis Moroz, the Deputy Minister of Energy of Belarus, expressed welcome for more cryptocurrency miners to come, and more and more mining investors are showing 'strong interest' in the country. Moroz stated that the government is holding 'consultation' meetings with unnamed parties. Cryptocurrency mining companies are also analyzing possible locations for setting up new mining sites in Belarus. Government officials pointed out that cryptocurrency miners have consumed 120 megawatts of electricity. Moroz believes: 'Cryptocurrency mining is a promising industry that has gained new vitality in Belarus.' Moroz added that the Ministry of Energy only wants to collaborate with participants 'interested in working long-term in the Belarusian energy system.' He also stated that the upcoming cryptocurrency miners should help 'create the necessary infrastructure' to assist Minsk in expanding its cryptocurrency mining capacity, 'We see very great prospects and have received many requests. I believe we will see new projects launched in the near future.' Additionally, the government intends to offer 'incentive tariffs' to attract cryptocurrency miners. (BelTA)
