World's richest man Elon Musk's father, Errol Musk, revealed to (Arabian Business) that Elon Musk is planning to build a $1 billion scientific research institute in Dubai, which will gather the smartest talents from around the world.
This ambitious project is named the 'Musk Institute' and will focus on scientific priorities such as gravity and nuclear fusion, aiming to retain local talent to tackle the global 'brain drain' issue.
He said in an interview with (Arabian Business): 'Dubai is the center of the world, and we hope to establish a science academy to retain the greatest and most brilliant minds, bringing them together and giving them an opportunity.'
'Dubai is a model city, but the number of 'brain drain' is astronomical, and that is a big problem.'
The Musk Institute 'will not just be a facility; it represents a long-held dream of the Musk family.' According to Errol, the idea has been discussed between him and Elon for many years, especially after the SpaceX launch. Now, with funding support and vision, the project is expected to begin construction in 2025.
The project plans to construct an advanced three-story building to provide accommodation for students and researchers. Additionally, the facility will be equipped with a hamburger vending machine, which is also a reflection of the Musk couple's unconventional approach to innovation.
In addition to physical infrastructure, the institute's ambitions are even grander. Errol hinted to (Arabian Business): 'This institute will reach Nobel Prize levels, and we will establish a Musk Prize.'
