The Fed confirms it cannot own Bitcoin due to legal regulations

Jerome Powell, the Chairman of the Federal Reserve, has confirmed that the Fed cannot own Bitcoin due to current legal regulations. He emphasized that the Federal Reserve Act only allows this central bank to hold safe assets such as U.S. government bonds and prohibits investment in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. If there is an intention to change this regulation, Congress must be the deciding body, but the Fed has no plans to propose any changes.

Powell also expressed a cautious view towards Bitcoin, considering it a speculative asset with high volatility, which is not suitable for storing value. It can be seen that although the value of Bitcoin is strongly increasing, the participation of large financial institutions and central banks in the cryptocurrency market remains a controversial topic that requires clearer legal adjustments.
