Odaily Planet Daily News: Ledger users report that phishing scammers are forging support emails from the cryptocurrency hardware wallet provider to trick users into revealing their wallet keys. According to screenshots shared on X and a BleepingComputer report from December 17, this fake email claims that Ledger has experienced a 'recent data breach' and encourages recipients to verify their private seed phrases under the guise of needing to 'protect' their assets. The email appears to come from Ledger's legitimate support email but is actually sent through an email marketing platform. The email directs visitors to a website that professionally presents the Ledger brand site, looking legitimate, and prompts visitors to 'verify your Ledger,' falsely claiming to check whether the device has been compromised. The prompt opens a pop-up window requesting the seed phrase, and if shared, the scammers will gain complete control of the wallet and allow it to be drained of funds.
