Economic Observation: People are afraid to spend money.

There is a fruit shop in the county, and I know the owner. The situation is as follows: 1. The shop does not pay rent; 2. His father is a major fruit wholesaler in the county (good channel); 3. The fruit prices are normal, not expensive.

This shop, which opened during the pandemic, went out of business this year, 2020-2024.

1. In terms of costs, there are almost no costs; no rent, the owner sells the goods himself;

2. In terms of channels, his father has been in the fruit wholesale business for over ten years; who can compete with them;

3. In terms of prices, they are at a normal level, much cheaper than those chain stores.

Summary: If such a shop cannot survive, it's not due to other issues but because people are afraid to spend money. Those with money are saving it up or paying off some debts; in short, they are reluctant to spend recklessly. In the past, every month, I would buy a durian for my wife, around 200; now I can't bear to do it. Eating fruit is just the three-piece set: apples, bananas, oranges, just to save money.
