Brian Quintenz of a16z chosen as CFTC chairman under Trump
Brian Quintenz, former commissioner of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), has been viewed as a leading candidate for the position of CFTC Chairman under the new administration of President Donald Trump. Previously, he served at the CFTC from 2017 to 2021 and is currently the Head of Policy at a16z Crypto, where he continues to advocate for clarity in cryptocurrency-related regulations.
With extensive experience in managing new financial products, particularly derivatives related to digital assets, he could play a significant role in resolving the disputes between the CFTC and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regarding the regulatory authority over cryptocurrency.
If appointed, Quintenz could create a significant turning point for U.S. cryptocurrency policy, which is something many in the cryptocurrency industry are hoping for.
