PANews reported on December 10 that according to Forbes reporter Eleanor Terrett, U.S. SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce mentioned "Operation Chokepoint 2.0" in an interview and outlined three things she believes need to be done under the new SEC leadership after Trump takes office to help make the cryptocurrency industry clearer:

  1. The first step to stopping the government’s regulatory Chokepoint activity is to stop this approach of trying to prevent cryptocurrencies from getting the services they need (such as custody) to move forward;

  2. Clarify what does not fall under the SEC’s jurisdiction, what is not a security, and who does not have to consider the SEC’s regulatory framework;

  3. Working with entities involved in cryptocurrency to try to figure out how existing rules apply and where adjustments are needed. This requires a collective effort. It needs to be done in public so that everyone can participate. I believe we can find a good starting point relatively quickly.
