Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on December 10, U.S. SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce (also known as 'Crypto Mom') mentioned 'Operation Chokepoint 2.0' during an interview with Fox Business, outlining three things she believes need to be done under the new SEC leadership after Trump to help clarify the cryptocurrency industry:
1. Stop the bottlenecks of government regulation. The first step is to stop the attempts to prevent cryptocurrency from obtaining the services it needs (such as custody).
2. Clarify what is not under the regulation of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, so that certain matters are not securities and certain individuals do not have to consider the SEC's regulatory framework.
3. Collaborate with entities involved in cryptocurrency to try to find the applicable scope of existing rules and areas that need adjustment. This must be a collective effort. It needs to be conducted openly so that everyone can participate.
Peirce stated that she believes these goals can be achieved in a relatively short period of time.
