The recently launched Mobile Threat Hunting function by the company has detected multiple instances of the infamous spyware Pegasus, developed by NSO Group (nicknamed “Rainbow Ronin” by iVerify), on devices belonging to ordinary professionals and civilians.

The researchers conducted a thorough analysis using iVerify and discovered the following key findings:

2,500 self-scanned devices resulted in seven Pegasus infections

Infection rate of 2.5 devices per 1,000 scans, significantly higher than previous estimates

Infections dating back to 2021 and spanning several versions of iOS

These findings confirm what we have suspected for a long time: if you scan the system, you will find it,” said an iVerify spokesperson. “We are uncovering threats that have been hidden in plain sight, unnoticed by traditional security measures.
