Shiba Inu’s mainnet, Shibarium, has undergone an important upgrade relevant to all network users.
Shiba Inu’s blockchain received a major upgrade today. The Heimdall and Bor hard forks went live. They are designed to improve performance and stability and include an upgradeable burn contract.
Heimdall Hard Fork
According to the official documentation, the latest version of the Heimdall upgrade, v1.07-bone, has been released for the Shibarium blockchain.
Among the many features of this upgrade are:
Documentation Enhancements
Improvements to code validation
Dependency upgrade;
Bug fixes, etc.
After the hard fork, validators on Shibarium must upgrade to the version before the Dencun hard fork occurred on Bor. This will ensure compatibility with Ethereum (post-fork) by updating the bor package to v.1.3.7, which is now able to handle blob transactions introduced by the Ethereum Dencun hard fork.
Bor Hard Fork
This particular release focuses on improving performance, blockchain management, security, and integrating certain merges.
One of the most important features of the Bor upgrade is the new destruction contract. According to the official document:
We are upgrading the burn contract to an upgradable version to support exciting future updates and enhancements. The new burn contract has been deployed at address 0x541F60e5576764cA3957f70b6a1E60f3CE5886e0 on block 8200512 and plays a key role in the ecosystem’s deflation mechanism.
Other features include:
POS Bridge Integration
Deterministic fork choice
Geth upstream merge
Blockchain Hard Fork Consistency
Security enhancements and more.
