VTIS 2024 opened this morning (December 3) and took place over two days under the management of two leading enterprises in the securities industry (SSI Securities) and technology (FPT Group).
In the opening speech, the representative from the Organizing Committee, Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SSI Securities Corporation, shared about the current development status of the digital asset market in Vietnam and the necessity of perfecting the legal framework to develop this financial product.
First, talking about the current situation, according to the Chairman of SSI, technology, artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, and games have entered every corner of society and families, and are no longer the ideas or stories of any single country.
In the development trend of technology in general and the digital asset market in particular, Vietnam is rising thanks to the young workforce and passion of young people. According to the latest research by Forbes, Vietnamese people rank second in the world in terms of ownership and interest in digital assets. According to information from the 10 largest exchanges in the world participating in the VTIS 2024 Conference, Vietnam is the market with the top 4 trading volume in the world.
Therefore, according to the head of SSI, this is no longer a technological solution, stories of ideas and digital assets have entered the lives of every family in Vietnam.
However, while tangible assets can be managed through customs and borders to prevent them from going abroad, digital assets have no borders and can be brought to any country if Vietnam does not have a legal basis to preserve, develop and ensure their existence in the country.
Therefore, developing a legal framework for the digital asset market is very necessary and urgent according to the assessment of the Chairman of SSI.
“If no one lights a fire today, there will be no fire tomorrow. If we miss this opportunity for digital assets, we don’t know when we will have another chance to develop together to a new level,” Mr. Hung said.
According to the forecast of the founder of SSI Digital (SSID), with a legal framework, a young workforce and the passion of young people, Vietnam will certainly become a regional digital asset center.
“We don’t have many options, either continue to be spontaneous, let our children continue to go abroad and follow the current model. Or we manage, keep it for ourselves and collect taxes, so that our children have land to develop in their own country,” SSI Chairman Nguyen Duy Hung concluded the opening speech of the event.
