【Coinbase Chief Policy Officer: Expect Rapid Cryptocurrency Legislation in the U.S. After Trump Takes Office】
According to reports on December 2, Coinbase Chief Policy Officer Hilsard stated that he believes cryptocurrency legislation will be 'considerably swift' in advancing through Congress after Trump enters the White House. Trump is well-known for his pro-cryptocurrency policy platform during his campaign. His comments come as two key pieces of cryptocurrency-related legislation are moving through Congress.
One is the '21st Century Financial Innovation and Technology Act' initiated by the Republicans, aimed at establishing a legal framework for digital assets. This bill passed the House earlier this year. The other is the 'Stablecoin Transparency Act,' which aims to create a regulatory system for licensing stablecoin issuers—stablecoins are tokens pegged to the value of fiat currencies like the U.S. dollar. The stablecoin bill has not yet been voted on in the House.
