According to a report by the Financial Times on December 2, OpenAI is discussing plans to introduce advertising into its artificial intelligence products as the ChatGPT developer seeks new sources of revenue. OpenAI Chief Financial Officer Sarah Friar stated in an interview with the Financial Times that the $150 billion AI startup is considering an advertising model and added that they plan to 'exercise caution' regarding when and where to implement advertisements.

The San Francisco-based company secured $6.6 billion in new financing in October, and according to multiple informed sources and an analysis of LinkedIn accounts by the Financial Times, OpenAI is recruiting advertising talent from major tech companies such as Meta and Google.
