A hacker linked to LockBit was arrested in Kaliningrad $LTC $ADA $SCRT

Russian national Mikhail Matveev was arrested in Kaliningrad on charges of developing the Babuk virus and distributing several ransomware programs, including LockBit and Hive. This was reported by the local prosecutor's office.

Matveev, known by the aliases Wazawaka, Uhodiransomwar, m1x, and Boriselcin, encrypted files on the computers of his victims during cyberattacks and extorted cryptocurrency.

The criminal case has been referred to the Central District Court of Kaliningrad.

The Russian national is under US sanctions, where similar charges were previously brought against him. Authorities estimated the total damage from the activities of the ransomware programs he managed at $200 million.
