The volume of cryptocurrency assets held by Russian investors is estimated by the Central Bank at 4.8 trillion rubles - this is 18% more than six months ago. The main channel for purchasing digital assets among Russians is anonymous cryptocurrency exchanges and P2P sections of crypto exchanges, reported the chief financial regulator.

"The main growth in activity occurred in the second quarter, when a record volume of web traffic from Russians on cryptocurrency platforms was recorded (about 88 million visits). The estimated balances in cryptocurrency exchange wallets as of September are valued at 651 billion rubles, which is 16% less than at the end of March. Of this amount, Bitcoin accounted for 69%, Ethereum for 21%, and stablecoins for 10%. The outflow of assets from cryptocurrency exchanges may be related to the decrease in market volatility," explained the authors of the Central Bank study.
