The mayor of Canadian Vancouver, Ken Sim, presented a plan to add Bitcoin to the municipal balance. The city leader announced this at a council meeting on November 26.

Details of the initiative titled 'Preserving the city's purchasing power through diversifying financial resources: transforming into a Bitcoin-friendly city' have not yet been disclosed.

Editor and author of the Globe and Mail, Ethan Lou, believes that it is unlikely that Vancouver will introduce cryptocurrency payments for things like taxes or parking:

'I wouldn't be surprised by that, but I think the mayor wasn't talking about this.'

In his opinion, the creation of a municipal Bitcoin reserve is also improbable.

Author and crypto enthusiast Jeff Booth, on the contrary, expects the authorities of Vancouver to adopt the first cryptocurrency as a reserve asset.

On December 11, the mayor intends to bring his proposal to a vote in the council.
