Could there be a Dogecoin ETF in 2025? "Today's satire is tomorrow's ETF"

The historic success of Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs in 2024 has possibly been the most important news in traditional and cryptocurrency financial markets this year. With a cryptocurrency-friendly White House, could this year's success lead to a Dogecoin exchange-traded fund in 2025?

"I think everything is on the table for the future under the new administration," said the president of ETF Store, Nate Geraci, to The Block.

The elected president Donald Trump has presented himself as a pro-cryptocurrency leader, hoping to turn the United States into the "world capital of bitcoin." He even created the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an agency based on memes that will be led by the well-known Dogecoin enthusiast Elon Musk.

"The hope is that the new administration acts quickly to designate which crypto assets are securities and which are not," Geraci said. "Once that framework is in place, the approval path for additional spot cryptocurrency ETFs should become much clearer."

"I’m pretty sure we will see a Solana ETF trading in the first half of 2025," said Louis Sykes, cryptocurrency analyst at All-Star Charts. "DOGE [is] much less likely... let’s just say Wall Street prefers assets that didn’t originate as a meme."

"Today's satire is tomorrow's ETF," said Eric Balchunas, senior ETF analyst at Bloomberg, to The Block. "One might wonder: 'Is DOGE a bridge too far?' and I would say we’ll see. I think someone will try it because, why not?"

The CEO of Two Prime Digital Assets, Alexander Blume, told The Block that DOGE ETF filings will "definitely" happen.
