North Korean attackers have already infiltrated hundreds of organizations worldwide, creating fake identities, according to Microsoft security researcher James Elliott. He stated this at the annual Cyberwarcon conference in the USA, as reported by TechCrunch.
North Korean hacker groups have stolen billions of dollars in cryptocurrency by posing as IT specialists, recruiters, and venture capitalists, the media reports. They employ various tactics to steal crypto assets, evade international sanctions, and fund the country's nuclear program.
The North Korean hacker group known as Ruby Sleet has compromised aerospace and defense companies with the aim of stealing industry secrets to develop their own weapons and navigation systems, Microsoft stated.
Microsoft specialists also spoke about another North Korean hacker group Sapphire Sleet, which operates under the guise of recruiters and venture capitalists and steals crypto assets from individuals and organizations.
Among their tactics is to operate not only from North Korea but also from Russia and China, which complicates the identification of suspects in corporate networks.
