The company Tether, the issuer of USDT, the largest stablecoin by market capitalization, is discontinuing support for EURT, which is pegged to the euro, and is asking users to redeem their assets within a year.

In its statement, Tether urged clients holding EURT across all supported blockchains, including Ethereum$ETH , Solana$SOL , and Tron,$TRX to redeem their assets by November 27, 2025. New requests for the issuance of the stablecoin will no longer be accepted. Interestingly, the last request for issuance was processed in 2022.
This decision aligns with our broader strategic direction, considering the changing regulatory framework governing stablecoins in the European market.
Until a more risk-resilient system emerges that fosters innovation and provides the stability and protection our users deserve, we have decided to prioritize other initiatives, Tether stated.
At the time of writing, the market capitalization of EURT was $27 million, which is only 0.02% of the capitalization of USDT.
