Odaily Planet Daily News A group of artists and early testers of OpenAI's unreleased text-to-video tool Sora, after claiming that the tool was used for 'uncompensated research and development', leaked access to the new model in protest. On November 26, the group released what appears to be a front-end version of Sora to the AI development platform HuggingFace, allowing anyone to use the tool for creation. However, it is reported that OpenAI intervened and shut it down shortly thereafter. This leak was conducted by a group of artists and beta testers under the username 'PR-Puppets'. 'We gained access to Sora and committed to becoming early testers, red team members, and creative partners. However, we believe we were lured into an 'artistic cleansing' to tell the world that Sora is a useful tool for artists,' said the organization. According to an open letter released simultaneously with the Sora leak, the organization claims that 'hundreds of artists' provided uncompensated labor through error testing, feedback, and experimental work, only to find themselves excluded from any compensation or recognition from OpenAI. Artists claim that OpenAI (now privately valued at $157 billion) unfairly prevents artists and contributors from receiving payment for testing, feedback, and development. (Cointelegraph)
