P2P Bitcoin

Jéssica Lima was born in the central west of Brazil, in Goiás, but was raised in Ceará. The young woman, who is only 25 years old and considers herself a Ceará native, today makes her living from Bitcoin. She operates as a P2P and spoke to BeInCrypto Brazil.

But what does a P2P do?

The meaning of the acronym in English P2P –  peer-to-peer –  means “point to point” or “person to person”. In other words, in practice, it is a decentralized and distributed network that allows the exchange of resources and information between users. All without a centralized intermediary, such as banks.

But the owner of the money needs to understand how to operate decentralized tools on different blockchains and have the technical knowledge to operate and exchange funds with other participants in the network. This is because there is no intermediary intervention in the process.

Traditional market investors enter crypto

And that's where the knowledge of Jéssica Lima comes in, who uses the tool and operates for her clients. In fact, she revealed that 95% of her clients are men.

“My clients are generally traditional market investors, such as agronomists and dentists, who are looking for something that the traditional market does not offer: high volatility. They are interested in the unique opportunities that the crypto market brings, with the potential for quick gains in a dynamic trading environment,” explains the investor and trader.

Lima, who left Ceará at the age of 14 in 2013, said he entered the crypto market in 2016.

Initially working for someone else in the same profession I practice today, I soon immersed myself in the P2P market and, with dedication, became a reference in the area, building a solid name in the cryptocurrency brokerage sector.

Salary in Bitcoin since 2016

She revealed that her interest in the crypto market arose when she realized that it was possible to save money without depending on banks.

In 2016, I was paid in Bitcoin, earning 0.12 BTC per week, when the exchange rate was around R$1,600, which represented around R$200 per week. This experience was extraordinary, as it seemed to finally offer a solution to several criticisms I had had since school about the traditional financial system.

It is worth remembering that among the advantages of P2P are the reduction of intermediary fees, greater privacy and more control over digital assets.

From the backlands of Ceará to the Bitcoin universe

Regarding her first contact with Bitcoin in the backlands of Ceará, Jessica says she learned about the technology between 2010 and 2011, after asking her grandmother for a cell phone as a gift. And she got it.

Soon after, I got the first computer on the farm where I lived, which was a novelty for the region. I used to have friends over to watch series and movies and upload music to 4shared in exchange for pennies that my cousin paid me, which I consider my first job. At that time, internet access was limited and I was one of the few people with a computer and access to technology in the area.

8 BTC scam and success story

Jessica's journey was not easy, in fact she went through a period of aridity, like in the northeastern backlands. She suffered a scam in the first transaction she made with cryptocurrencies.

I lost 8 bitcoins from my partner, which at the time represented R$23,000. The scammer was part of the Bitcoin Brasil community, and with the help of other members we were able to track him down and recover the bitcoins after a few days. I was only 17 years old, and the experience was distressing, but it also gave me visibility and respect in the community, helping to build my reputation in the market.

After a lot of sweat and work, Jessica Lima gives advice for anyone who wants to get into crypto.

Mainly be careful who you trust. Especially your money.

There are too many people in the market who take advantage of your lack of knowledge. Whether it’s by recommending cryptos to sell courses, or other ways of ripping you off. It’s quite annoying, but it happens frequently, it’s happened to me, in fact, warns Lima.

In other words, Satoshi Nakamoto's old phrase is still relevant. Do your own research!
