CoinVoice has recently learned that, according to Cointelegraph, Bitcoin financial services company Swan Bitcoin filed a lawsuit against its current legal advisor, the law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, for legal malpractice on November 22. The lawsuit stems from the firm's hiring of lawyer Barry Berke, who represents competitor Tether.

Swan Bitcoin previously hired Gibson as legal counsel in September to sue a group of former employees for allegedly stealing software code to establish the cryptocurrency mining company Proton Management. Swan claims that Proton persuaded Tether to cut ties with Swan and instead support Proton.

On November 24, Gibson filed to withdraw from representing Swan in the case against Proton, claiming that "the attorney-client relationship has completely broken down." In response, Swan applied for a temporary restraining order in California Superior Court on November 25, seeking to prevent Gibson from withdrawing from the case and to prohibit it from accepting Tether as a client. The court has scheduled a hearing on the temporary restraining order for November 26. [Original link]
