PANews reported on November 26 that, according to Yonhap Infomax, the South Korean National Assembly's Strategy and Finance Committee has decided not to hold the plenary meeting originally scheduled for November 26. This decision is significant as the committee was set to discuss the cryptocurrency tax agenda. Previously, on November 25, the tax subcommittee postponed the discussion on the cryptocurrency tax due to a chaos.
A committee official explained that the cancellation of the plenary meeting was due to disagreements between the parties. The main opposition party, the Democratic Party of Korea (DPK), supports the implementation of the planned cryptocurrency tax, while the ruling People Power Party is pushing to delay it for two years. The official also mentioned that other unresolved issues, such as inheritance tax, were also factors in the decision to cancel the meeting.
