TechFlow reported that on November 24, Business Insider reported that LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman published an opinion article in the Financial Times, saying that if Musk provides legal guidance on artificial intelligence to the new Trump administration, his advisory role may cause a serious conflict of interest.

Hoffman pointed out that if Musk uses his advisory position to obtain government contracts for xAI, target other AI companies or restrict exports, it will harm the United States' technological, economic and cultural security and competitiveness. Hoffman also expressed concern about the isolationist AI policy that the Trump administration may adopt, believing that this will hinder technological cooperation with global allies.
