At the Devcon series of events that ended successfully last week, Ethereum founder Vitalik gave a keynote speech at Rollup Day titled "How Ethereum technology is ready to support applications with large-scale adoption while maintaining decentralization" and said: "The blockchain world has more to offer."

Developers are undoubtedly an important force driving the development of the blockchain industry. Code is law! Applications built through countless lines of code have added infinite possibilities to the entire on-chain world. And how to build smarter? This may be the question that most Web3 on-chain developers have been thinking about for a long time during the construction process. With curiosity and a sense of mission, OKLink has been in close dialogue with developers at Devcon Bangkok and surrounding activities in the past week, looking for answers with everyone from the perspective of data infrastructure builders.

Talk with 200+ Devs

In order to better understand the needs of developers, we collected feedback from more than 200 users through face-to-face communication and questionnaire statistics at the AltLayer Rollup Day.

Q1: What is the biggest challenge you encountered in the process of building a public chain?

Most developers cited the lack of comprehensive data tools, the time and resource intensity of building on-chain solutions, and the challenges of cross-platform integration and compatibility.

Therefore, being able to obtain multi-chain data in one stop and achieve seamless cross-platform integration will inevitably save a lot of development costs and shorten the time taken for development.

Q2: Do you believe that powerful multi-chain data tools designed for easy integration can help simplify the development process? 97% of developers are confident in the emergence and application of such multi-chain tools. Especially with the rapid development of AI technology today, agile and intelligent development is no longer an insurmountable problem.

Functions such as contract comparison, bytecode decompilation, and tools for real-time tracking of on-chain dynamics are widely used by developers on a daily basis.

Q3: How important is it to adopt solutions that allow developers to focus on innovation rather than infrastructure construction? 69% of developers think it is crucial, 19% think it is important, and 9% of users are neutral. The process of laying the foundation from 0 to 1 is certainly important, and solid underlying infrastructure construction is the prerequisite for innovation.Q4: Considering your development experience, do you think building smarter is more effective than building harder? 84% of respondents believe that building smarter is more important to remain competitive in the fast-growing environment on the chain.

Build smarter, not harder. Perhaps this is the grand topic pursued by Web3 developers.During Vitalik's Talk at the Rollup Day event, Vitalik was present and, based on Rollup-related data, proposed that Ethereum's goal is to balance decentralization and practicality.

At the same time, he reminded all community partners to pay attention to user account security issues, which can be achieved through personal hardware devices, family and friends, and some special guardianship methods. According to OKLink statistics, the total loss on the entire network chain in Q3 2024 was approximately US$743 million, an increase of 58% month-on-month. There were 110 major attacks, including 61 fraud and phishing incidents, with a loss of US$340 million, accounting for 46.03% of the losses. On-chain security should never be ignored, and developers and Web3 users should always pay attention to the security of their accounts during the construction process.

Finally, he said: “We can build both mainstream-friendly and decentralization-friendly applications. Many tools already exist, and more are in development.”

How to build smarter?

Following up on the issues of concern to developers mentioned above, OKLink gave a comprehensive introduction to the supported ecosystem and tools provided to developers on site, hoping to help developers achieve the goal of "easier and more convenient on-chain development."

  1. Multi-chain support

    Developers no longer need to worry about not being able to find tools to obtain multi-chain data. Currently, the OKLink browser and its API tools support more than 55 mainstream blockchain browsers and parse more than 200+ chains. The problems faced by developers such as cross-platform integration and compatibility can be easily solved.

    Moreover, this multi-chain supported ecosystem is still expanding rapidly and widely, and continues to increase support for popular chains and functions in the L2 and Bitcoin ecosystem at an efficient and fast speed.

  2. Developer-friendly tools

    "If you want to do your work well, you must first sharpen your tools." Various tools that are easily accessible and free of charge can help developers reduce costs and increase efficiency, and unleash their creativity without worries. These include professional development tools such as browser APIs, bytecode decompilation, contract comparison, decoding and debugging tools.

    In addition, the OKLink official website includes a large number of popular topics, including BTC halving, Ethereum L2 data dashboard, hot trend projects, etc. With the reference of these key information, developers and the majority of Web3 users can directly obtain research results and packaged real-time data reports. Why not? The above tools and functions can be easily obtained by clicking the 9 small dot icons in the upper right corner of the homepage.

  3. EaaS & RaaS solutions For public chain builders, the zero-cost blockchain browser solution can open a window for on-chain data query and intuitive display. EaaS (Explorer-as-a-Service) has a variety of functions that the following development teams are interested in:

✅Full-featured blockchain browser: A comprehensive and rich tool suite that allows users to freely explore blockchain transactions, smart contracts, network analysis and other functions;

✅Multi-chain data: View multi-chain assets, transactions, and addresses with one click, and set private address tags;

✅Powerful search engine: One-click search for important information such as chain addresses, blocks, NFTs, etc.;

✅Smart contract verification: view contract details, perform contract verification and read-write interaction;

✅Powerful API service: Use scalable, comprehensive and reliable API services to support your blockchain;

✅One-stop service: one-click access to industry-leading wallets, DEX and NFT markets.

Currently, OKLink has joined hands with leading Rollup projects such as AltLayer, Caldera, and Lumoz to jointly build solutions.

Direct conversations with developers give us more inspiration about on-chain data mining and polishing leading tools. OKLink always works with developers to "Build smarter, not harder" and build the future of Web3.
