Tron founder Justin Sun bought a banana for $6.2 million On November 20, the founder of the cryptocurrency project Tron, Justin Sun, bought a banana for $6.2 million at a Sotheby’s auction.
The banana purchased by Sun, attached with duct tape to a wall, is a conceptual art piece titled "Comedian," first created by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan in 2019. The banana comes with a certificate of authenticity and instructions on how to replace the rotting fruit.
The auction for the "Comedian" lasted five minutes, and seven people placed bids. Justin offered the highest amount of $5.2 million and agreed to pay a commission of $1 million. Apparently, the entrepreneur decided to splurge after making a fortune in cryptocurrency trading, which soared in value after Donald Trump's election victory.
