According to foreign media reports, five sources familiar with the Kremlin's thinking have stated that Russian President Putin is open to discussing a ceasefire agreement in Ukraine with Trump, but has ruled out the possibility of making any significant territorial concessions and insists on Kyiv abandoning its ambitions to join NATO. When discussing what Putin would accept in any agreement mediated by Trump, the five sources indicated that the Kremlin could generally agree to freeze the conflict on the front lines. Three of the informed sources mentioned that there might be room for negotiation regarding the exact division of the four eastern regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson. Two sources said that Russia might also be willing to withdraw from relatively small territories in the Kharkiv and Mykolaiv regions located in northern and southern Ukraine. However, Biden allowing Ukraine to use U.S.-made missiles to strike deep into Russia could complicate and delay any solution. If a ceasefire agreement is not reached, Russia will continue to fight.
