Another publicly listed company in the US has officially adopted Bitcoin standards.

Cosmos Health (NASDAQ: COSM), a company in the healthcare sector, announced on Monday its plans to add Bitcoin along with Ethereum to its balance sheet.

The company, which specializes in the development and distribution of pharmaceuticals and medical devices in Europe, also stated that it is making efforts to enable customers who wish to make payments using cryptocurrency.

"We view selective cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, not only as tools to hedge against inflation and currency devaluation but also as vehicles for diversification with significant growth potential," said Mr. Greg Siokas, CEO of Cosmos Health, in a press release.

The company's statement also noted that it will consider the possibility of adding other cryptocurrencies and blockchain-related assets in the future. However, Cosmos Health did not disclose the amount it intends to invest in digital assets or whether the company has started purchasing Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Shares of Cosmos Health have recorded an increase of over 17% today, with the current share price at 0.73 USD.

This company is following in the footsteps of MicroStrategy, which has incorporated cryptocurrency into its balance sheet. Since August 2020, MicroStrategy has been buying Bitcoin as a strategy to provide higher returns for shareholders and combat inflation.

Currently, MicroStrategy owns over 331,200 Bitcoin, worth over 30 billion USD at the current price of the coin at 91,360 USD, and is primarily focused on safeguarding this asset: investors can buy shares of the company as an indirect way to own and hold Bitcoin instead of purchasing it directly.

Microsoft also attracted attention last month after a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) revealed that the company would ask shareholders to vote on whether the software giant should purchase Bitcoin to supplement its reserve fund.

However, Microsoft has advised shareholders to vote against this proposal, stating that the company's management has "carefully considered this issue."
