The Italian government plans to increase the tax on crypto trade to 28% instead of the previously considered 42%. This decision was reportedly made after considering proposals from one of Giorgia Meloni’s coalition partners and Forza Italia. The current tax on crypto trades in Italy is 26%, but Maurizio Leo, the deputy economy minister, had announced a 42% increase during a press conference on the country’s 2025 budget.

The new crypto tax will be reviewed by Italian lawmakers before being officially approved and enacted into law.
