PANews reported on November 14 that according to The Block, Solana MEV infrastructure protocol Jito experienced a short outage last night, causing a surge in Solana chain priority fees. Jito Labs' official X account posted a message at 22:37 Beijing time on November 13: "We are now experiencing a system-wide outage. The team is working hard to repair it and will follow up after the problem is resolved." The problem was resolved about an hour later, but the root cause is still unclear.
The Jito team wrote in a follow-up message: "The issue affecting bundle delivery has been identified and resolved. All systems are fully operational and secure. This issue did not impact network activity. A technical post-mortem will follow." Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko said in a response on X that this may be related to "scheduler stress testing." Helius co-founder and Solana commentator Mert Mumtaz said: "I think their block engine servers were just overloaded due to extremely high demand. But they resolved the issue in 10 minutes, which is amazing."
According to CompassSolana, Solana’s priority fees rose by about 25-30 times during the outage. During this period, the average fee reached a high of about $0.03, while the median fee reached about $0.01.
