According to BlockBeats news on November 13, the U.S. Department of Justice has filed a civil forfeiture lawsuit after a year-long investigation, seeking to seize approximately 16 million dollars worth of cryptocurrency held in a Binance account. These tokens are reportedly related to the bribery authorized by SBF. Since the initial transfer, the value of these assets has more than doubled, potentially complicating law enforcement's recovery efforts.
The tokens held in this account include Internet Computer (ICP), Avalanche (AVAX), Ripple (XRP), Cardano (ADA), and Solana (SOL), with over half being SOL, valued at approximately 8.5 million dollars.
This case stems from an incident in November 2021, in which SBF allegedly instructed the transfer of 40 million dollars from the Alameda Research wallet for bribery purposes. The funds were tracked through multiple private wallets and ultimately ended up in a Binance deposit wallet.
