BlockBeats reports that on November 11, according to the Bangkok Post, a Ukrainian man told the police that while visiting a friend's room, he was forced to transfer cryptocurrency worth over 8 million Thai baht to a group of armed men.
23-year-old Viacheslav Leibov stated at the police station on Sunday that his 18-year-old Ukrainian friend Alfred Chernyshuk invited him to a friend's room around 10:45 PM on Friday night.
At the entrance of a friend's residence, a 21-year-old Armenian man named Arman Grigoryan welcomed Leibov and led him into the room.
The victim initially spoke with these individuals on the balcony of the room. He then needed to use the bathroom. When he opened the bathroom door, he found two masked men waiting for him inside.
Mr. Leibov said he requested the kidnappers to reduce the ransom by half. After completing the transfer of 250,000 USDT, the kidnappers tied him to the bed, warned him not to report the case, and then packed their things and left the scene.
The victim stated that he ultimately managed to save himself. Mr. Leibov said he immediately rode his motorcycle to Phuket Airport but did not see one of the suspects. He then reported the incident at the police station.
