《史记》货殖列传写道:天下熙熙皆为利来,天下攘攘皆为利往。如今链圈币圈话题不断,新的币种又是层出不穷,那么究竟区块链会对我们普通人的生活带来什么影响呢?
Today, it is the 15th anniversary of the release of the Bitcoin white paper.
It all started with these words: "If you don't believe me, or don't understand, I don't have time to convince you, I'm sorry."
As early as July 2010, bitcointalk member red published a post on the scalability issue of Bitcoin.
He said:
“I’m curious how developers see Bitcoin’s scalability, for example, can the system handle 1 million users doing 5 transactions a day, which is 5 million transactions a day, about 3,500 transactions every 10 minutes trade"
Later, bytemaster, the founder of bitshares, replied:
According to my understanding of economics, there is only one way to solve the scalability problem: a pricing system. Internet bandwidth, CPU time, hard disk space, etc. are all very precious resources. Expecting individuals to use time and "Bitcoin mining" to gain wealth will be detrimental to innovation.
Additionally, Bitcoin’s 10-minute confirmation time is far too long to verify a payment, which should be as fast as swiping a credit card today.
Therefore, we need bit-banks to allow instant transfers between member banks and peer banks. In addition to the system, anyone can create a bit-bank, but the system needs to pass the necessary trust. Transfers in and out of banks and peer-to-peer networks are still possible, but will be more expensive.
Therefore, compared to the risks borne by trusting banks, the existence of Bit Bank can make currency transmission more economical and faster. Banks need to maintain trust in order to make money.
Satoshi Nakamoto replied:
In the current system, each user is a network node, but this does not mean that they will be nodes after the system is large-scale. This is like each news group user running their own NNTP server. This design makes Users are just users. When the burden of running a node becomes heavier and heavier, the number of nodes will decrease, and those few nodes will be those large server farms (mining farms). The rest will be client nodes, which will only conduct transactions and will not produce new nodes.
Regarding the question of questioning the 10-minute transaction confirmation, Satoshi Nakamoto’s answer is this:
You can check out the snack machine post, where I briefly explain why this payment processing speed is sufficient, and actually quite good (compared to a credit card transaction with a 10-second confirmation, Bitcoin’s fraud rate is much lower). If you don't believe me, or don't understand what I mean, then I don't have time to try to convince you.
He then provided a link to another post.
I believe payment processing companies can process a transaction quickly, in 10 seconds or less, and do it well.
The entire network node will only accept the first version of a transaction and then merge it into the attempt to generate the block. When you broadcast a transaction, if someone broadcasts a double spend at that moment, then it becomes a race to see who can propagate it to the most nodes. If someone beats you to it, it will propagate faster throughout the network and connect to most nodes.
A rough but relevant example:
1 0
4 1
16 4
64 16
80% 20%
Therefore, if you wait even one more second for a double spend, its success rate will be smaller.
The payment processor is connected to many nodes. When it receives a transaction, it will publish it and at the same time monitor the network for double spends. If it receives a double-spend transaction, it will send an alarm indicating that it does not recognize the transaction.
If no node receives a double-spend transaction, it cannot propagate. The double-spend trader then has to wait for the listening period to end, but by this time, the payment processor has broadcast the transaction to a majority of nodes, or will be significantly ahead of the double-spend transaction, making it no longer possible to complete the double-spend.
bytemaster then replied:
I completely believe you and have come to the same conclusion as you. I read the post about snack machine after posting my previous reply.
