10th place: Cardano
Cardano is a blockchain project founded in Japan by Charles Hoskinson, the co-founder of Ethereum.
It is called the Ethereum killer, but it turns out to be so beautiful that it is really unbearable. Theoretically, its TPS (transactions processed per second) is 18, but the actual maximum recorded TPS is only 11.62, which is lower than BitChain.
In order to prevent project owners from bragging, we use the actual recorded TPS as the ranking basis for this list.

It is well known that Bitchain has poor performance. The maximum recorded TPS is 13.2 transfers per second. This value actually exceeds the theoretically derived 7 transfers per second, which is still pretty good.

8. Ethereum
Ethereum is known as an application chain, and theoretically its TPS is only 119. However, the actual maximum TPS recorded is only 62.34.
No wonder the Ethereum mainnet becomes stuck and gas fees soar as soon as a few memes become popular.
7. Avalanche Avalanche Chain
Avalanche Chain is actually not much stronger than Ethereum. The theoretical maximum TPS is 357, but the actual recorded TPS is only 93, which is only 1.5 times that of Ethereum mainnet.
If this chain wants to develop an application ecosystem in the future, it still needs to develop Layer2
6. Polkadot
Polkadot was founded by Gavin Wood, who has the highest academic qualifications among the Ethereum founding team.
But to be honest, the performance of this chain is not that good. It claims to have a TPS of 10 million, but the actual maximum recorded TPS is only 112, which is only twice that of the Ethereum mainnet.
5. Tron
The chain developed by Justin Sun was released in 2018. Although the maximum TPS is only 272, it is only 10% of the theoretical value.
But this performance has already crushed the Avalanche Chain and Polkadot Chain released in 2020, and is considered to be excellent among public chains of the same period.
No wonder it can capture such a large proportion of the USDT transfer market.
4. BNB Chain
The performance of the Binance chain has been significantly improved compared to the previous chain. Although the theoretical value is only 2222, which is not as good as Tron, the measured maximum TPS is 1731.
kIt seems that Binance's style is still relatively low-key and not very boastful.
This performance is equivalent to 30 times that of Ethereum.
3. Solana
Solana's performance is significantly improved compared to Binance Chain, with the actual maximum TPS reaching 7229, which is a hundred times that of the Ethereum mainnet.
However, this value is only 10% of the maximum theoretical value, and it is not ruled out that there will be performance breakthroughs in the future.
2. Aptos
The second-place Aptos is a public chain launched in 2022. The team is originally from Facebook. Its performance in TPS is also very impressive, with a maximum record of over 10,000 and a theoretical value of up to 160,000.

And Da Piaoliang didn’t actually find the historical maximum TPS of this project, but saw from the official website that the peak value in the past 90 days was 21055.
This value is twice that of the second place Aptos!
No wonder there are rumors that ICP’s technical team is full of encryption experts, and the data shows that it can indeed beat all other Layer 1 public chains.
