Ripple ($XRP ) CEO Announces $10 Million Donation to Kamala Harris Campaign
Ripple (XRP) co-founder and CEO Chris Larsen has donated $10 million in XRP to Future Forward USA, a major political action committee for Kamala Harris' campaign. Larsen believes the Democratic Party candidate "can ensure that American technology dominates the world."
In this final stretch of the campaign, the Democratic Party has stood out in the volume of donations, which have already exceeded $1 billion, according to reports filed with the Federal Election Commission.
In addition to announcing the donation, the Ripple co-founder posted on his Twitter that "It's time for Democrats to take a new approach to technological innovation, including crypto assets."
Following Larsen's donation, the company's CEO, Brad Garlinghouse, stated that he respects everyone's right to express their views on his choice for president and that "Ripple will continue to engage with Democrats and Republicans who support pro-crypto policies in Congress." The support for Harris comes at a time of legal tension between Ripple and the SEC, the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM). The institution is chaired by Gary Gensler, who is seen by the market as someone who is against cryptocurrencies. In a statement to reach out to this market, Donald Trump stated that if elected he would fire Gensler.
