Chris Larsen, co-founder and chairman of Ripple, contributed about $9.9 million to Future Forward in September, as well as more than $800,000 to the Harris Victory Fund, according to FEC records compiled by Breadcrumbs blockchain analyst James Delmore and independently verified by CNBC.

Including Larsen's August contribution of $1 million in XRP tokens, the billionaire has donated more than $11.8 million to political action committees supporting Harris' campaign, making him one of the largest individual donors in the crypto industry this cycle.

Larsen, who has supported candidates across the party spectrum over the past few years, told CNBC that his comfort level with Harris comes from conversations with people involved in the campaign and what he's seen in the vice president since she effectively took over from President Joe Biden.

Larsen’s affinity for the Democratic nominee is not new. In February, he made the maximum personal contribution of $6,600 to Harris (which would have covered the primary and general election), about five months before she became the Democratic presidential nominee, Federal Election Commission filings show. At the same time, he donated $100,000 to the Harris Action Fund PAC.
