According to PANews, Rune Christensen, the founder of Sky (formerly MakerDAO), announced on the X platform that the total supply of USDS surpassed 1 billion within two weeks of its release. Most of the demand for USDS comes from new users, while the supply of Dai remains stable at 4.7 billion. Since the launch of USDS, the combined inflow of USDS and Dai systems has increased by approximately 700 million.

Christensen also addressed confusion regarding the Sky token, which has been renamed from 1 MKR to 24,000 SKY. He acknowledged that many are unclear about the token's purpose and raised questions about its issuance. Additionally, naming the protocol, token, and front-end all as Sky has added to the confusion. He emphasized that the DeFi community has a strong affinity and trust for the Maker brand, associating it with stability, security, and DeFi scalability. Many community members prefer holding MKR tokens over upgrading to Sky.

In response to community feedback, Christensen proposed a series of governance proposals concerning the future of the Maker brand, MKR token economics, and the role of Sky. The first idea to consider is creating distinct roles for Maker and Sky, thereby rebranding Maker. If approved, Maker would be defined as the decentralized protocol driving the USDS, DAI, and StarDAOs ecosystems, with MKR as its sole governance token. The Maker brand could either be refreshed to suit the new era or retain its classic appearance based on community needs.

Sky would be defined as the platform focused on meeting the needs of DeFi end-users, providing the best and most convenient platform for saving and earning returns, leveraging Maker's unique features and products. Unlike Spark, which focuses on backend collateral management and more professional users, Sky would concentrate on the front-end and demand side of the USDS equation, ensuring Maker has two complementary front-ends. If this proposal is approved, USDS will remain unchanged and continue to be supported by Maker and MKR governance.

Initially, an Atlas Edit proposal will be formulated based on community feedback, offering several options for voters to choose from. The current options include: 1. Continuing with Sky as the core brand; 2. Repositioning the Maker brand in its original identity; 3. Repositioning the Maker brand with a refreshed identity.
