🔍 James Howells, an IT engineer from Newport, has filed a £495 million (around $647 million) lawsuit against Newport City Council after he accidentally threw away a hard drive containing 8,000 bitcoins.

- Howells has been trying to get the drive back from a local landfill for 10 years, but the council has refused to dig it up.

- In 2013, his BTC were worth around £1 million, now it’s worth almost half a billion.

- The council cites environmental risks and refuses an offer of 10% of the BTC found.

🤖 In 2022, Howells proposed an $11 million plan to find the drive among 110,000 tons of rubbish, but the council remained adamant.
