Odaily Planet Daily News: A German man who was accused of being responsible for a $150 million cryptocurrency fraud case and accepted a $5 million home confinement in New York City, with his partner and children as guarantors, has now become a fugitive. John Marzulli, a spokesman for the Brooklyn U.S. Attorney's Office, said on Friday: "There is a very active investigation going on to catch him. We will forfeit the bail." Jicha did not appear in Brooklyn Federal Court as scheduled. A prosecutor from the Brooklyn U.S. Attorney's Office told the judge at a hearing on Thursday that Jicha was suspected of tampering with his ankle monitor on October 3. The hearing was originally for pretrial issues in the case. After noticing that Jicha's ankle monitor did not work, pretrial services officers sent him an email asking him to come to their office the next day. Prosecutors told U.S. District Judge Orelia Merchant that Jicha did not show up. (CNBC)
