PANews reported on October 9 that according to Decrypt, the metaverse platform Decentraland announced the release plan of the desktop client, which brings visual upgrades, improved performance and new mechanisms to the Ethereum metaverse game. This major update marks a shift in its game vision, which is to focus on the "social" aspect of the metaverse.

Currently, Decentraland runs in a browser, which limits the game’s graphical capabilities and performance, arguably hindering the game’s growth in recent years. The Decentraland desktop client will be launched as a public beta on October 22, providing major improvements for players and creators in the metaverse.

While Decentraland will not abandon its traditional flat screen roots, the team is also considering the possibility of entering the VR world. Decentraland Engineering Manager Agnieszka Besz said that for Decetraland to eventually run successfully on VR, the game must perfect its performance, and the desktop client is a step towards achieving this ambitious goal.
