The Ethereum community has recently been hotly discussing the new proposal EIP-7781, which was proposed by Ben Adams, co-founder of Illyriad Games. It aims to increase data processing volume and increase network throughput by 50% by shortening the block generation time to 8 seconds. Ethereum Foundation researcher Justin Drake expressed support, believing that this move will significantly improve network performance and user experience, optimize the user experience of Layer 1 smart contracts, and reduce CEX-DEX arbitrage costs.

Despite concerns about increasing the risk of network centralization, proponents believe that the increase in hardware requirements will not seriously affect decentralization.
